President Halla Tómasdóttir, Ministers, ladies and gentlemen.
Good morning.
Three years ago, I had the pleasure of leading an official visit to Iceland with a Danish business delegation titled “Green Energy Solutions – the New Nordic Noir”.
Today, I welcome you to the heart of Copenhagen.
Our two countries share a special bond, shaped by our common history and culture. We easily find mutual ground in terms of values, visions and business solutions, which the visit three years ago serves as a great example of.
Both our countries are recognized for an ambitious and
forward-thinking approach to climate change. Together, we are leading the way in the green transition and energy solutions. Some of the finest examples of this work are represented here today.
forward-thinking approach to climate change. Together, we are leading the way in the green transition and energy solutions. Some of the finest examples of this work are represented here today.
For Denmark, wind energy marked the beginning of our green transition, and it remains the driving force behind our green energy efforts today. Building on this foundation, we have expanded into new areas.
Our expertise in Power-to-X technologies – converting surplus renewable energy into green hydrogen and other sustainable fuels – holds great potential for reducing emissions in sectors such as transportation and heavy industry.
In 2021, when I visited Reykjavik Energy and CarbFix, I saw firsthand how greenhouse gases could be captured and stored in stone, it was truly remarkable.
During this visit, the President and her delegation will have the opportunity to experience CopenHill, an artificial ski slope built atop a waste-to-energy plant in the heart of Copenhagen. What we may lack in natural wonders, we make up for with innovation.
Let us combine our strengths and take the green transition to even greater heights.
I wish everyone a successful and productive conference.
Thank you.
