Christian Alsted blev i 1984 teolog fra Metodistkyrkans Nordiska Teologiska Seminarium. Fra samme år og frem til 1989 virkede han som præst i Metodistkirken i Esbjerg og Varde, efterfulgt af ti år som præst i Metodistkirken i København i Jerusalemskirken. I 2009 blev han valgt som biskop for Metodistkirken i Norden og Baltikum.
